Louisiana Becomes 17th US State to Participate in OML

Under the leadership of Shawn Patrick, University of Louisiana at Monroe, College of Pharmacy becomes the 17th US state to hold an official OML book drive. The collected pharmacology resources were donated to Afghanistan, Ethiopia, and Zambia.

OML Adds Zambia to Its Recipient Countries List

Through a partnership with LifeNet International (LNI), OML is able to donate medical educational resources to Lusaka, Zambia. During their recent visit to Los Angeles, African pastor, Bishop George Mbulo and his wife, Bea, received textbooks donated by the David Geffen School of Medicine at UCLA students.

LNI will include donated health sciences (dental, medical, and nursing) resources in its cargo container shipment, which is scheduled to leave San Pedro, California in late summer 2012. The books must have current information. Please limit each box to 25 pounds and ship via USPS Media Mail rate to:

Duke University Football Team Delivers Buckeyes' Books

On May 5, 2012, representatives from the Myungusng Christian Medical Center met members of the Duke University football team at Addis Ababa airport. The players hand-delivered 95 pounds of books collected by Ohio State University (OSU) medical students through its OML drive. Mailing textbooks from the United States to Ethiopia is expensive. For this donation, the books were sent from Ohio to North Carolina. Wonderful team work displayed by Duke University and OSU. Future Physician Conducts OML Drive in Dayton, Ohio

A million thanks to eighteen-year-old Ayesha Khan, who recently conducted an extensive OML drive in the greater Dayton, OH area. She collected over 330 pounds of books and sent them to various locations: Afghanistan, Antigua, and the Philippines. Ayesha is planning on attending the University of Cincinnati this fall with a dual acceptance to the University of Cincinnati’s College of Medicine through its Connections Program. She aspires to become a physician and hopes to continue her work with OML in the future, as well as other medical relief work.

OSU College of Medicine Sends Books to Ethiopia

International Health Interest Group members at Ohio State University College of Medicine conducted an OML drive. Ninety-four pounds of books were donated by current medical students. The educational resources left Ohio today for Mysungsung Christian Medical College in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia.
